The Best Friends You Can Wish for!
Dr Brown, his daughter Emely and their wonderful team from Surgical Aid for Kenya came back for the 7th time, to work and give surgery and medical care for free. This time they were supported by Dr Nina Beltzer from Sweden, another wonderful friend, a gynaecologist and obstetrician, who has come to work for free at Kinondo Kwetu Hospital for six months.
During 8 days the team completed 107 surgeries, among them quite a few on pediatric patients.
And, they brought with them a fetal monitor, the first to ever been used at the hospital. It was successfully set up and used with the support of Dr Nina. She played an important role in this, as this is a new type of monitoring, that requires training to make sure that the midwives and patients feel confident when using it. This monitor means a great improvement in the service offered to pregnant and delivering women.
Among very many other good things, the team also brought two laptops for the pupils in Kinondo Primary School.
Thank you, Surgical Aid for Kenya!
